artec technologies AG wins tender in Qatar: news agency relies on Xentaurix TV, Web TV and radio information system

  • AI-based automatic transcription converts audio data into text almost in real time and translates into different languages
  • Users such as journalists, marketing experts and security forces benefit from reduced research time

Diepholz/Bremen, 27 March 2023: A news agency based in Qatar is once again relying on the Xentaurix platform from artec technologies AG to modernise its media information system. Together with a local cooperation partner, the medium-sized company from Lower Saxony successfully won a tender process and was awarded the contract for the software and hardware modernisation of the news agency’s TV, web TV and radio information system. The contract includes several years of service and support. The client has been an artec customer for many years. With the latest Xentaurix version, the news agency will be able to record over 400 media channels and will have around 870,000 video hours available for analysis and research. This will make it one of the largest media information systems in the Middle East. It was agreed not to disclose the order volume.

“In order to meet the growing demand for automated capture, processing and analysis of audiovisual content, we have once again significantly upgraded Xentaurix,” says artec CEO Thomas Hoffmann. “This enables us to offer international broadcast companies, media houses, security agencies and industrial companies a strong package of performance leadership, functionality and ease of use. The latest order shows that artec is able to assert itself in international competition with this time and again.”
Artificial intelligence complements product portfolio

The latest version of Xentaurix not only runs on state-of-the-art hardware, but additional software modules have also been integrated to increase functionality. One highlight is the new automatic speech transcription using artificial intelligence (AI), which is available in a variety of international languages. The AI converts the spoken word into text almost in real time. In addition, the transcriptions can be simultaneously translated into all common languages in excellent quality. In the future, artec will also offer its customers AI-based, automated interpretation of visual data, such as images and videos. In the security industry, image interpretation is used to detect people or objects that may pose a threat. Customers can use Xentaurix as a cloud platform or stationary on-site – like the customer in Qatar.
Making work easier for users

Xentaurix’s expanded product portfolio makes it much easier to analyse video, audio and metadata. This further reduces the time needed for research by users such as journalists, marketing experts and security forces. For example, manually transcribing a longer video could take hours or even days, depending on the difficulty of the material and the speed of transcription. Using AI-based speech recognition software speeds up this process and saves significant time.
